Erin Cuff Jewelry / Cochineal

Position: Jewelry Production + Studio Manager 

 

Erin Cuff Jewelry, a DBA of Cochineal LLC, is a fine handmade jewelry studio and business, established as full time in 2019.  In 2023 ECJ expanded to open a brick and mortar store in Sonoma County, CA, housing not only the ECJ collection but that of 25+ other fine artists and brands.  The ECJ studio, historically a small one woman show, has greatly expanded with the growth that has come from our successful brick and mortar.  We are looking for an experienced and highly organized jewelry production manager to join our team 4-5 days a week to manage the ECJ studio located in southeast Santa Rosa, CA.  This position will also require some shifts during business hours at our brick and mortar in Freestone, CA, Cochineal, to support with sales and custom client interactions.  Advanced Jewelry production (fabrication, wax carving, stone setting, etc) experience is a huge plus, but not necessarily required to apply for this position.  However, 2-5 years of experience working in the fine jewelry industry is greatly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Keeping the studio clean and organized.
• Maintain and execute the production queue so that all projects remain organized and on schedule.
• Running errands to local vendors.
• Serve as liaison between studio, retail store, custom clients, and wholesale/consignment accounts.
• Improve current systems, studio organization, efficiency and lead times for all jewelry production.
• Have full control over email correspondence with ECJ clients, online customers, vendors, and the sales team at Cochineal.
• Working closely with Erin to develop and execute designs for custom clients and the ECJ collection.  
• Corresponding with wholesale accounts, packing and shipping wholesale orders, and maintaining positive relationships with stockists.
• Ordering materials and managing material inventory levels.
• Working with the store manager to maintain inventory both in store and in consignment accounts.
• Pricing new styles, quoting custom projects, and auditing existing styles based on fluctuating material costs.
• Review and analyze production efficiency, lead times, losses and quality control metrics on a quarterly basis
• Support with jewelry production (For those with jewelry experience)
• Sizing, wax carving, fabrication, tree building, stone setting, engraving, CAD design, wax printing, repairs etc.
• *This position will not include jewelry production tasks or training for those without existing fine jewelry bench skills and experience.
• Assistance with sales at Cochineal, and any overflow tasks assigned by store manager during sales shifts.

 

Necessary Skills and requirements:

• Highly Organized, self starter, hard working, and able to work in a small team.  
• Experience managing jewelry production in a studio setting.
• Fine jewelry production and bench skills are not required but a huge plus.
• Proficiency in Asana, Quickbooks, Google, Canva, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Proficiency in pricing and sourcing.
• Good customer service skills.
• Ability to manage a small team.
• Reliable transportation.
• Must love (or tolerate) dogs :)

Compensation:

• Commensurate with experience
• Paid Time off
