Erin Cuff Jewelry / Cochineal

Position: Bench Jeweler / Studio Assistant

 

Erin Cuff Jewelry, a DBA of Cochineal LLC, is a fine handmade jewelry studio and business, established as full time in 2019.  In 2023 ECJ expanded to open a brick and mortar store in Sonoma County, CA, housing not only the ECJ collection but that of 25+ other fine artists and brands.  The ECJ studio, historically a small one woman show, has greatly expanded with the growth that has come from our successful brick and mortar.  We are looking for an experienced and highly organized bench jeweler to join our team 3-5 days a week to work in fine jewelry production in our studio in southeast Santa Rosa, CA.  This position may also include shifts at our brick and mortar location in Freestone, CA. At least 2-5 years of experience of working in the fine jewelry industry is required for this position.

 

Bench jeweler / Studio assistant:

 
  • Keeping the studio clean and organized.
  • Jewelry production - 
  • Sizing, wax carving, fabrication, tree building, stone setting, engraving, CAD design, wax printing, repairs, casting, casting cleanup, polishing, repairs, laser welder etc.
  • Maintain and execute jobs in production queue so that all projects remain organized and on schedule.
  • Running errands to local vendors.
  • Communicate with the operations manager and store employees about jobs in process via Asana.
  • Always work to adhere to and improve current systems, studio organization, efficiency and lead times for all jewelry production.
  • Working closely with Erin to develop and execute designs for custom clients and the ECJ collection.  
  • Performing repairs for Cochineal clients in a timely manner.
  • Ordering materials and managing material inventory levels.
  • Possible occasional shift covers at Cochineal.
  • Reliable transportation.  Studio is located in Santa Rosa, CA.
  • Must love (or tolerate) dogs :)

Necessary Skills and requirements:

  • Highly Organized, clear and compassionate communicator, self starter, hard working, and enjoy working in a small team.  
  • 2-5 years experience working in a fine jewelry production studio.
  • Excellent Fine jewelry production skills in some or all of the following - 
    • Sizing, wax carving, fabrication, tree building, stone setting, engraving, CAD design, wax printing, repairs, casting, casting cleanup, polishing, repairs, laser welder etc.
  • Proficiency in Asana, Quickbooks, Google.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Must love (or tolerate) dogs :)
 

Compensation:

 

  • 25-35/hr - commensurate with fine jewelry production experience
  • 3-5 days a week
